SAN ANGELO — A San Angelo home health worker has been indicted for using an elderly woman’s credit card at a gas station.
Malarie Zachary, 23, has been indicted by a Tom Green County Grand Jury for credit or debit card abuse of an elderly person.
According to court documents, on October 14, 2022, a Tom Green County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a call for service on the 5700 block of Fruitland Farm Road. The deputy met with the victim who stated her Chase Bank Visa card was missing and had several transactions on the card that she did not authorize. The victim advised that she had home health workers who tend to her on a daily basis.
The victim reported that one home health employee, Zachary, had stopped showing up to work when the unauthorized charges on the card started.
On October 20, 2022, investigators arrived at the Stripes Convenience Store, located at 5665 Sherwood Way, and obtained video that showed a woman resembling Zachary purchasing two gift cards totally $255.90 with the victim’s bank card.
Then, on October 28, 2022, investigators met with Zachary who allegedly admitted to using the victim’s card to purchase the items from the Stripes Convenience Store.
Zachary was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Facility on November 3, 2022, for credit or debit card abuse of an elderly individual and was bonded out the next day on $10,000 bond. Zachary is next due in court on June 6, 2023, for an initial pre-trial hearing.
