ARLINGTON— With the 90th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys selected a Texas Longhorn.
The Dallas Cowboys selected Texas linebacker DeMarvion Overshown in the third round after drafting Mazi Smith in the first round and Luke Schoonmaker in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Overshown isn’t only a defender and should be a special teams player. Dallas defensive coordinator Dan Quinn will absolutely get the most out of Overshown who brings all the traits the Cowboys like. He can rush the passer and drop into coverage and looks like a missile when tackling. He transitioned from safety to linebacker which explains his versatility.
Texas has several coaching staff changes and Overshown played several positions for the Longhorns. He has 30.5 tackles for loss and nine sacks over his career at Texas.
What really excites the Cowboys is his ability on special teams. With the speed he has, he should come in and play on special teams right away and he played nearly 500 snaps on special teams.
Regardless, Quinn will find a way to use Overshown and adding another front seven player to the Cowboys defense who has his skill set should be exciting to fans.
The Cowboys currently hold one pick in the next four rounds of the NFL Draft and could add a running back, offensive lineman, backup quarterback, and kicker on Saturday when round 4-7 begin.
