SAN ANGELO, TX — At Friday’s weekly meeting of the San Angelo Rotary Club at the Clarion Hotel, the top 25 Lake View graduates, class of 2023, were honored. Two of the pending graduates each received a $500 scholarship from the Rotary Club.
Rotarian Edward Yale led the ceremony with San Angelo Rotary Club President Rochel Ditmore. The Rotarians were joined by Lake View Principal Zachary Ramirez and school counselor Rachel Gander who introduced each of the students. All were given plaques from the Rotary Club and certificates of achievement each from State Rep. Drew Darby and Congressman August Pfluger. Cheryl DeCordova and Karin Kuykendall from each representatives' offices respectfully presented the certificates from each the state and federal level.
Principal Ramirez was passionate about the lives and backgrounds of each of his students and the unique accomplishments of each. He along with teachers and counselors prepared a short biography of each student that Ramirez read as the student was introduced.
Two $500 scholarships were chosen via a random drawing from the top 25. Taven White and Giovani Pablo each won. Taven is planning to pursue a degree in web development at Texas Tech. Giovani said he will pursue an information technology degree also at Tech.
