Tom Green Co. Commissioners Set to Drastically Reduce Speed Limits on Some Roads

SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County Commissioners Tuesday will hold a public hearing on proposed reductions to speed limits on certain County Roads after some serious crashes and concerns voiced by area residents. 

According to the agenda for the regular meeting, the Court will 'Convene a public hearing to discuss lowering the speed limit on the following county roads: Fairview School Road from 45 mph to 30 mph; Jameson Road from 60 mph to 50 mph; reducing to 40 mph at the Hobbs intersection east all the way to US 67; and Hobbs Road from 60mph to 40 mph.'

The purpose of the public hearing is to gather input from County residents about the proposed changes to the speed limits. 

County Commissioner's Courts in Texas regulate County owned pubic roads and can set speed limits by state law.  

The Tom Green County Commissioners Court meets in regular session at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Commissioners Court Meeting Room on the second floor of the Keyes Building downtown.  That meeting is open to the public.
