Man Jailed for Lighting his Own Truck on Fire at Lake

A 23-year-old San Angelo man is behind bars this morning after catching his own pickup truck on fire this weekend and watching it burn.

The San Angelo Fire Department was notified of the flaming vehicle at 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, when emergency dispatchers called to report a vehicle fire at Twin Buttes Park. Fire Investigator Thomas Truett responded to the scene, and upon arrival, found Kyle Leroy Meyers in the vicinity of his Dodge pickup along with two San Angelo Police Officers. The truck was burning at the bottom of the south boat ramp.

Due to the location of the truck, Dove Creek Volunteer Fire Department responded to extinguish the flames, and Truett conducted a subsequent investigation. According to Fire Marshal Ross Coleman, the suspect's location and burn patterns indicated that the fire was intentionally set. As a result, Meyers was arrested at the scene for arson of a vehicle, a second-degree felony. He had been booked into the county jail only two days prior for public intoxication.

In addition to Meyers, 71 others were jailed over the weekend, including six booked for driving while intoxicated, six charged with public intoxication and one person apiece jailed for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, theft, driving under the influence, aggravated robbery, marijuana possession and assault. Sixty-two individuals were jailed on the weekend.

Well if I were an attorney, I would represent him free of charge and enter a plea of insanity for him...... We can prove he was insane for buying a Dodge. The only remedy is to do exactly as he did, burn it and then go buy a Ford........
