Dallas Cowboys Pro-bowler Sued for Not Paying Rent

DENTON COUNTY, TX — Dallas Cowboys’ Cornerback Trevon Diggs is being sued in Denton County by his former landlord for failure to pay rent.

The suit filed at the end of 2022 states that the two-time Pro-Bowler had entered into a one-year lease for a property in March 2022 in Frisco with a monthly rent of $5,500 due on the first of every month. But the landlord says the first month of the lease term was the only time he had made timely payment.

He moved out in July 2022 to avoid eviction. His landlord, Rose Marie Yadegar, is seeking $33,500 in unpaid rent and late fees. She also asks for $45.45 every two weeks for yard maintenance, $3,400 for damage repairs, and $531.15 for carpet cleaning after the carpets were “soiled beyond normal wear and tear.”

Scott Becker, the attorney for Diggs, said this suit came as "a bit of a surprise" to Diggs.

"This appears to stem from some misunderstanding or miscommunication going on with this rental property that ended sometime last year," Becker said. Becker added that it looks to be a situation where some acquaintances of Diggs may have been taking advantage of him.

"He thought this matter was completely resolved," Becker said. "So, to have this situation arise out of the blue was a bit of a shock to him." Becker said Diggs is working to work this out and solve the problem and that he's not trying to be difficult.

"We certainly feel badly for her if that's the case that there's damage to the property," he said. "My client didn't cause that damage and we look forward to working it out with her... You become a target for things and that may be happening here."

Yadegar claimed she tried to resolve these issues multiple times with Diggs but with little success.
