CHARLOTTE, NC — NBA Legend and 6-time Finals Champion Michael Jordan turns 60 years old today. The greatest basketball player of all time celebrates his birthday this year with a $10 million donation to the Make-a-Wish foundation.
Jordan spoke to the media and said, “For the past 34 years, it’s been an honor to partner with Make-A-Wish and help bring a smile and happiness to so many kids. Witnessing their strength and resilience during such a tough time in their lives has truly been an inspiration.”
Jordan’s 10 million dollar donation is one of the largest ever received by the foundation. The Charlotte Hornets owner grants kids' wishes worldwide and is still heavily requested years after his retirement. He was named Make-A-Wish Chief Wish Ambassador in 2008 for what the organization called the “life-changing impacts he has had on wish kids and their families.”
“I can’t think of a better birthday gift than seeing others join me in supporting Make-A-Wish so that every child can experience the magic of having their wish come true,” Jordan said.
Jordan’s legacy includes one of the greatest scorers, defenders, and leaders ever to play the game of basketball. Millions of kids across the globe still want to be just like Mike.
