Suspect Identified in Tuesday Night Police Standoff

 

The man who fired shots at deputies on Tuesday night and and became the subject of a multi-agency standoff that lasted until 3 a.m. has been identified as 39-year-old Billy Ray McGary

McGary was taken into custody and booked into the county jail at 4:12 a.m., after elduing officers for several hours in the brush out on Runion Road in what resulted in a multi-agency manhunt involving infrared cameras and two helicopters.

The 5'4" man has had several run-ins with the law, including several misdemeanor resisting arrest and evading detention charges, assault and driving while intoxicated. McGary is being held in lieu of a $75,000 bond.
