SONORA— The Cougars and Lady Cougars took it to the Sonora Broncos last night in their district matchup.
The Lady Cougars went up 20-1 in the first quarter, led by Aaliyah Bogs’ 11 points. At halftime, the Lady Cougars were up 40-7.
The second half didn’t change anything as the Lady Cougars put up 15 and 10 points respectively in the third and fourth frames. The Lady Broncos only managed to put up eight points in the second half of the game.
Overall, the Lady Broncos are now 14-11, 2-4 in district and the Lady Cougars are now 13-11 overall, 5-1 in district.

After the girl’s game, the boys took to the hardwood and the story was the same as the Cougars, led by Jaron Slaton’s monster 42-point game.
The first quarter ended up 21-12 in the Cougars favor where Slaton’s 13 points kicked off the Cougars dominance. Sonora scored a respectable 12 points being led by Lozano with four. In the second quarter, the Cougars put up another 24 points to the Bronco’s 20.
The third quarter is where the Cougars really started to pour it on and the team had 30 points after the half to Sonora’s 11.
In the final frame with Slaton still in the game, the Cougars showed no signs of letting up and ended the game 96-58.
