SAN ANGELO— San Angelo Police have released more information regarding the Giz & Hums assault that left one man injured and his girlfriend under arrest.
As we reported earlier, a San Angelo man was injured and his girlfriend has been arrested following an altercation at the San Angelo pool hall.
On January 8, 2023, at 10:38 p.m., Officers were dispatched to Giz & Hums, located at 1425 West Beauregard Avenue in reference to a Major Motor Vehicle Accident. Upon arrival, officers located a 42-year-old male victim with extensive injuries to his lower extremities.
San Angelo Fire Department Medics arrived on scene and transported the victim to Shannon Medical Center for treatment. Officers learned that the suspect, identified as 40-year-old Blanca Cajas, had struck the victim with her vehicle and that she had fled the scene prior to officers' arrival.
It was learned that the victim was between a wooden fence and the front end of Cajas’ vehicle when he was struck.
San Angelo Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division, Motor’s Division, and Crime Scene Division arrived at the scene to assist with the investigation. Officers were able to locate Cajas and the suspect vehicle at a residence in the 200 block of East 24th street and she was detained pending further investigation of this incident.
At the conclusion of the initial investigation, Cajas was taken into custody for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and she was booked into the Tom Green County Jail.
Another male subject, 40-year-old Jose Lopez, was taken into custody at the original scene for interference with public duties as he was interfering with San Angelo Fire Department Medics while they were attempting to render aid to the victim.
Additional charges may be forthcoming for Cajas as this incident is investigated further.
