Four Former Angelo State University Student Athletes Indicted for Brutal Attack & Robbery

SAN ANGELO – Four defendants have been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for a robbery after attacking another man and stealing his backpack on the Angelo State University campus back in August.

D’Koreion Hammond, Roy Morris, Brenton Jacob Frizell, and Kameren Kirkwood who were, at the time, Angelo State Univeristy students, were all four indicted for robbery, a second-degree felony.

According to court documents, investigators reviewed body cam video and security video, interviewed the defendants, and learned details about the attack.

Kirkwood, Frizell, Morris, and Hammond were seen leaving the Texan Hall parking lot P-40, located at 2500 Dena Drive in a white 2008 Honda Accord at 7:31 p.m. At that time, the victim was observed leaving the Super Slab basketball court on campus with his black Adidas backpack, basketball, and white LeBron basketball shoes.

Video provided by the defendants showed Hammond, Morris, and Frizell assaulting the victim by striking him with closed fists and kicking him in the head and upper torso while Frizell was observed with the black Adidas backpack in his possession.

At 7:42 p.m., Texan Hall video showed Frizell had the basketball and Morris had the backpack.

The victim told ASU Police that he did not give the individuals permission to take his personal property.

In the original story, Stilton McKelvey and Michael Murphy were said to be involved as well but only Frizell, Morris, Kirkwood, and Hammond have been indicated at this time. It is unknown whether they are still students at Angelo State Univeristy.

At the time of the robbery, ASU’s Director of Communications, Brittney Miller said, “As this is an ongoing investigation, we cannot provide addition comments. Thank You.”

Morris, Kirkwood, Hammond, Frizell were arrested on August 31, 2022, and each posted a $25,000 bond the next day.
