Tye Man Arrested after Abandoning Dog After Relationship Breakup

 

ABILENE —A Tye man was arrested on animal cruelty charges after abandoning a dog outside on a cable.

According to court documents, officers responded to a residence where a dog had been tangled in a cable outside a residence. A half empty bucket of water a near empty food bowls. Neighbors then told officers that they had been caring for the dog for a few days after the owner, identified as Jerry Day, had gone through a breakup.

Records show Day adopted the dog from the Tye Animal Shelter back in November of last year. The temperature in Tye dropped into the mid 20’s over the holiday weekend as the highs were in the 50's and 60's.

Day arrested and released after posting a $2,000 bond.
