SAN ANGELO, TX — Nearly 5,000 homes in northwest San Angelo were stuck without power on Monday night.
According to AEP, on Nov. 28 as of 11:30 p.m., 4,469 addresses in San Angelo had reported an outage. The power outage seems to be on the city's northwest side, including The Bluffs and the western side of Lake View..
It is unknown at this time why the outage occurred but San Angelo LIVE! has requested the information from AEP. An eyewitness told us she heard what could be a transformer exploding just prior to lights out.
On traffic scanners, a number of local law enforcement has been sent out to elevator rescues at the hotel strip off of the Houston Harte. We tracked it down and as we arrived at around 11:50 p.m. San Angelo Fire Department personnel were just leaving the scene. All was well, from our vantage point.
Update Nov. 29 at 12:35 a.m. - Reports from around the impacted areas are that power has been restored. AEP still reports about 2,000 without power in the Buffalo Heights area. AEP also reports that all of the power should be restored by 3:30 a.m.
