2 Wall Athletes Sign to Play College Ball at Angelo State University

WALL – Two of Wall’s student athletes signed to play college sports at Angelo State University on Tuesday.

Hawk senior, volleyball player Kamryn Williams and senior Everson Armstrong both signed to play their respective sport at Angelo State University in the Wall gymnasium yesterday afternoon.

Both players had family and friends in attendance and also spoke about what the Wall community meant to them through high school.

“Wall is important to be because our community is really tight knit,” Williams said, “They’ve been with me, and I’ve grown up with half of these people. I really enjoy the support from them and I’m excited to be playing in my backyard.”

Angelo State was important to both Williams and Armstrong due to being able to continue to play in front of their friends and family.

Hawk’s volleyball coach, Robynn Jones, had nothing but good things to say about Williams.

“There’s so many good things I can say about Kamryn,” Coach Jones said, “She’s been a part of our program for six years. She started out of varsity as a freshman. That is huge. That is something that we all dream about.”

Hawks basketball coach Travis Dawson spoke to the coachability of Armstrong. Dawson came to Wall after Everson’s freshman season and heard all about how good of player he had but the question he asked himself is how coachable he was.

“My first thing that comes to mind is ‘Is he going to be coachable, ‘” said Coach Dawson, “What I want everyone to understand how coachable that young man has been and that’s a testament to his parents and the type of family they have.”

“It means a lot to me that all my hard work has finally paid off,” Armstrong said, “Knowing that my senior year is stress free, having to worry about where I’m going to college, I don’t have any of that anymore. Now I can just focus on basketball with Wall.”

Wall Athletic Director, Jeremy Williams, also thanked everyone for being there for this special occasion.

“You know, it’s pretty awesome for Kamryn and Everson both, you guys have made a big impact on Wall ISD, “Williams said, “Y’all are important to a lot of people, not just your parents and your families, but to your school and your community. What they’re able to do today is certainly a testament to what all they’ve done their entire careers.”
