Heavy Thunderstorms Cause Flooding in the Concho Valley Overnight

SAN ANGELO – Heavy rain early Friday morning dumped .62 inches of rain at Mathis Field and caused the Red Arroyo in San Angelo to rise to in Southwest San Angelo. 

Meteorologists with the National Weather Service in San Angelo say the frontal system that caused the rain has moved east into the Heartland early Friday and rain will continue to fall roughly east of a San Angelo to Junction line through the early afternoon hours.  

No severe weather is expected and showers could continue in the Concho Valley through noon. 

Temperatures have cooled off with the passage of the frontal system as well.  The Forecast calls for a 90% chance of additional rainfall Friday with temperatures reaching about 59 degrees. Winds with shift to the north and be strong and gusty in the afternoon.  

The rain will end in the Concho Valley today.  Temperatures will only reach an afternoon high Saturday of 63 degrees before plunging to the low 40s Saturday night.  The area will see a slight warming trend beginning Sunday.  

The forecast for Halloween on Monday has partly cloudy and dry conditions with an afternoon high temperature of 75 degrees.  Expect temps in the mid 60s at sunset about the time for trick or treating.
