WATCH: One Southwest Blvd. Intersection Opens & Railroad Crossing Closes

 

SAN ANGELO – The long awaited construction along Southwest Blvd. between Loop 306 and Green Meadow Dr. is now complete with the opening Monday of the east side of Green Meadow.  

The construction at the busy intersection in front of Firestone and the now demolished McDonald's restaurant has caused traffic headaches for months but now that stretch of roadway is complete.

The Southwest Blvd. at Green Meadow intersection construction is part of the complete rebuilding of Southwest Blvd. from Houston Harte Expressway the entire length of the roadway to Twin Mountain Lane.  Southwest Blvd. is now closed at the railroad crossing near Lamar Elementary School as crews rebuild the crossing.

The complete reconstruction of Southwest Blvd. includes replacing the pavement and rebuilding all the intersections including the railroad crossing. Most of that work is complete.  

Crews now have begun work on College Hills Blvd. from Ave. N to Loop 306 with utility work between the Red Arroyo and Ave. N.  traffic is down to two lanes from the Park 2400 shopping center to Patrick St. for utility construction.  

The next major project in the ten year, $80 million street reconstruction plan for the city is rebuilding N. Chadbourne St. from Loop 306 to 43rd St.
