ODESSA – Residents on the City of Odessa are facing a water crisis after a water main break has caused significant pressure loss across the city and Ector County has issued a disaster declaration Tuesday.
According to the City of Odessa a major water break has occurred at the intersection of 42nd & San Jacinto. Crews are actively working to close valves in the system to isolate the break, however, this is taking longer than anticipated.
Water levels have reached a point that a Boil Water Notice has been issued. Citizens should expect a significant loss in water pressure and/or no water at all. A significant portion of the community remains without water at this time.
Citizens should boil water prior to using for cooking, drinking, brushing your teeth, making ice, washing dishes or any other consumption. Please refer to the attached map for affected areas.
The City of Odessa will be setting up Water Distribution Sites (P.O.D.S) at the following locations beginning at 1:40 pm:
McKinney Park-625 W. Pool Rd.
Ector County Coliseum-4201 Andrews Hwy,
FM 1936 & W University
Congressman August Pfluger of San Angelo who represents Odessa and Ector County wrote on Facebook that he will be collecting drinking water in bottles and gallon jugs at the Cactus Hotel in San Angelo from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday evening and will deliver the water to Odessa Tuesday night.
This is a developing story.
