Busy Southwest San Angelo Intersection Partially Closes for Construction

SAN ANGELO – A busy intersection in southwest San Angelo partially closed Monday for reconstruction and will impact traffic on Southwest Blvd. for about a month.

According to the City of San Angelo, the west side of Green Meadow Drive at Southwest Blvd. will be closed to through traffic due to reconstruction of the intersection at Southwest Boulevard.

Once completed, the east side will then close.

The anticipated reopening date for Green Meadow Drive to through traffic is July 2022.

Southwest Blvd. has been under construction for months as the entire street From Twin Mountain Dr. to Loop 306 has been repaved and each intersection is also being rebuilt.

The construction is part of an ongoing $80 million project the city has undertaken to rebuild major city streets.  The project began with MLK Blvd. and includes Southwest Blvd., College Hills, and N. Chadbourne St.

City officials will announce in July when the intersection reconstruction is finished and the roadway is reopened.
