Tom Green County Judge Temporarily Lifts Burn Ban

SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County Judge Steve Floyd Friday morning issued an order lifting the countywide ban on outdoor burning due to the rainfall received Friday.

According to his office, Judge Floyd lifted the burn ban as of 10 a.m. Friday morning which allows residents in the county to burn trash and brush.  It is always illegal to burn trash or brush inside the San Angelo City limits.

The Tom Green County Commissioners Court approved the ban on outdoor burning during its regular meeting Tuesday.

With excessive, record heat and no rain in the forecast, the Commissioners Court could reinstate the burn ban on Tuesday, which is expected to see an afternoon high temperature of 109 degrees.

As always, officials caution residents to be safe while burning outdoors.
