SAN ANGELO – The best chances for rain in West Central Texas over the next 24 hours will be in the Abilene area Wednesday night and then around I-10 and Sonora on Thursday with little or no rain expected in the San Angelo area.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo report that a cold front will move into the Big Country Wednesday evening and sag to around Sonora by Thursday morning. Rain chances are best behind the front and current weather models indicate rain is most likely in the Abilene area Wednesday night. The main weather threat will be large hail and damaging winds but flooding may occur with stronger storms.
Some weather models show a 50% chance of scattered showers in the San Angelo area roughly from 9 p.m. to midnight Wednesday night.
Thursday, the best chance of rain is along the I-10 corridor in the Sonora and Ozona areas.
The hot temperatures return to the Concho Valley Saturday with high temperatures reaching to around 105 degrees early next week.
