3 Teenagers Arrested Over "Fake" Threat to Lamesa Middle School

LAMESA- New information on the threat that caused Lamesa Middle School to cancel the last half-day of school has been released.

Last week, Lamesa ISD cancelled the last half-day of school out of caution in response to a social media threat.

Lamesa Police were informed about an image on social media of an individual holding a gun with the words “Coming for Lamesa Middle School” on across the bottom. Officials identified Jasper Medrano as the suspect, and he was taken in for questioning.

After new information was obtained by police, it was discovered that Medrano did not make the threat and that three juveniles altered the image to make it look like Medrano had made the threat.

Lamesa Police released information today stating three juvenile males, one 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds, were involved in the “fake” threat to Lamesa Middle School. The teenagers admitted to making the post.

Jasper Medrano has been cleared of all suspicion in the fake threat and the three teens involved were held in the local juvenile detention facility.

Lamesa Police have said there is not an active threat at this time.
