Former Angelo State University Softball Player Loses Battle with Cancer

 

FREDRICKSBURG – A former Angelo State University Softball Player lost a long and tough battle with cancer on Sunday at the early age of 26.

Camry Weinheimer, 26, of Fredericksburg, passed away, on May 1, after a nearly two year battle with Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer. Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer is a rare type of cancer that affects muscle tissue, mostly in children and adolescents.

Weinheimer spent a large portion of her adult life in San Angelo. "In fall 2014 she enrolled in Angelo State University where she was a walk-on Rambelle softball player her freshman year and was active in Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society," reads Weinheimer's obituary. "She graduated from ASU in May 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. For two years she was a special education teacher in American Literature and assistant director of the drill team at Central High School in San Angelo."
