LUBBOCK, TX- A drive-by shooting in Clovis, New Mexico resulted in a teenager being shot and then transported to Lubbock for medical care.
Wednesday afternoon, Clovis police responded to a shots fired call at a residence near North Oak Street and East 13th St. according to authorities. Once police arrived, shell casings were found in the driveway. Two male subjects at the scene were armed with semi-automatic rifles. As a result, 20-year-old Benjamin Genova and 18-year-old Fabian Genova were taken into custody.
A black car fled the scene and according to the Clovis Police Department, it was determined that the occupants of the car and the two subjects in custody were shooting at each other. 9mm handgun casings were found in the street and it is believed those casings were from the shooter or shooters in the black car.
After the shooting occurred, a 13-year-old was taken to Plains Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Clovis police also determined that the boy was an occupant in the black car as well.
The teen was taken to Lubbock for further medical care and is in stable condition.
The shooting is still under investigation.
