Wanted Man Jailed for Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child Tuesday

An 18-year-old man wanted for aggravated sexual assault of child was picked up by San Angelo police on Tuesday on the north side of town.

Isiah Alvarado has been wanted for allegedly abusing a 4-year-old and a 7-year-old boy since a warrant for his arrest was issued out of Decatur in December last year. 

Accoding to Decatur Police Detective Daniel Sandate, the alleged offense took place in June 2014, when Alvarado was residing the small town north of Fort Worth. Alvarado then moved to Abilene, where his victims made an outcry of abuse. Abilene police transferred the case to Decatur, where the abuse is alleged to have occurred, and a warrant was issued last December. 

After Alvarado left Abilene, the Decatur Police Department received intelligence that he was living in San Angelo and had been enrolled as a student at Central High School. Alvarado had quit attending school in November, Sandate learned.

On Tuesday, San Angelo police located Alvarado at an apartment complex near N. Lillie St. He was taken into custody and booked into the county jail at 8:06 p.m. and is being held in lieu of a $75,000 surety bond.

Det. Sandate said that when Alvarado is transported back to Decatur, he hopes to talk to him and learn his side of the story. 

In addition to Alvarado, 28 individuals were booked into the county jail on Tuesday, seven of which were booked for offenses alleged to have been committed within the last 24 hours. 

Among those booked were two charged with public intoxication, one charged with possession, one charged with theft, and an 18-year-old female caught in possession of marijuana and a dangerous drug when she was picked up on a capias warrant and another warrant issued for failure to attend school. 

The suspect in Tuesday morning's arson on 11th St. was also booked at 3:40 p.m.

Twenty-seven inmates were released on Tuesday.
