SAN ANGELO, TX – Downtown San Angelo is getting another gem as an upscale dining restaurant is set to open next week.
The Urban Salt Kitchen & Bar, located at 23 W. Beauregard, is looking to open their doors following a six year project.
Co-Owners Michele Chapa and Ronnie Cajas II have complete renovated the entirety of the building to bring a taste of urban nightlife to San Angelo's downtown. Chapa was in charge of the interior design while Cajas was in charge of the menu.
"The way she put this together in the front kind of inspired how I put my menu together," said Cajas. "I'm not going to lie it is definitely more nerve racking because she set the bar pretty high. I have to make sure my matches that."
The restaurant's food selection is what Cajas is calling "Upscale Modern American. They will serve items such as fish and steak as well as some Mexican items including Tapas. Cajas says that bringing these items and using his version of cooking will keep people coming in.
"The way I see America now is a melting pot," said part owner and head chef Ronnie Cajas II. "I am trying to keep up with the times and have the menu kind of reflect that to where I'm using different flavors in different parts."
The other main selling point for the spot is their bar selection. Urban Salt is not only a kitchen but a tequila bar. Top drinks will be their tequila flights and other specialty tequila drinks.
Urban Salt is expected to host a soft opening on Feb. 18. In order to attend the soft opening the restaurants will be doing reservations. To secure your spot message the Urban Salt on their Facebook page.
Once the restaurant fully opens it will be open Wednesday through Sunday. They will serve lunch, dinner, and will have a bar menu for food after 10 p.m.
