SAN ANGELO – Meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo are warning of hazardous driving conditions for the next few days.
They issued the following Special Weather Statement Thursday afternoon:
The accumulating precipitation has come to an end, however, road conditions remain hazardous across the area due to widespread ice and snowpack. Although some partial melting has taken place, this is expected to re-freeze on the roads after sunset.
Even some spots that may appear to be clear will likely have black ice. Road conditions will therefore become very icy and slippery overnight and through tomorrow morning. Non-essential travel is therefore discouraged.
By tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, some additional melting may occur as more sunshine is expected and temperatures may get above freezing for a short time. However, some of this may re-freeze yet again on Friday night, making roads slippery on Saturday morning.
