SAN ANGELO – Approximately two to three inches of sleet and snow covered San Angelo area roadways Thursday morning as most of the Lone Star State remains under a Winter Weather Warning through 6 p.m. Thursday.
Temperatures remained in the upper teens region wide with wind chills near zero.
Meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo say the snow will end Thursday morning but driving conditions will remain hazardous because temperatures will remain well below freezing for the next few days.
Water and electric service continues uninterrupted across most of the Concho Valley Thursday morning. Watch for downed tree limbs and power lines. The Texas electric grid is holding and has reserve power according to ERCOT.

The driving hazards won't end Thursday with the frozen precipitation ending. Forecasters say temperatures will drop to between 8 and 12 degrees overnight with wind chills between 1 and 7 degrees.
Temperatures across the Concho Valley will remain below freezing until Saturday afternoon. Look for a gradual warming trend region wide beginning Sunday.
Residents are urged to stay home and not drive Thursday. Busy main roadways will clear some throughout the day as traffic removes the snow and ice, but a thick layer of ice will continue to create dangerous driving conditions through Friday.
This is a developing and potentially dangerous weather situation.
