SAN ANGELO, TEXAS –The Tom Green County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) is preparing for the impending winter storm by mobilizing community resources.
“We’re working to activate the resources we might need so we can streamline aid to our neighbors. We know we won’t be able to anticipate every need, but we’re hopeful that we can make it easier for the community to get the help they need,” said Aspen Roberts, Director of Donor Development at United Way and Chair of the Tom Green County COAD.
The San Angelo Jeep Club will begin giving rides to first responders and hospital staff on Thursday, February 3rd. After accessing the weather and need, the ride service may be extended into the following days. Rides for first responders and hospital staff can be requested by calling the United Way of the Concho Valley at (325) 949-3716.
“We’re giving back to our community. The San Angelo Jeep Club has the capacity to help, and each of our ‘Jeepers’ has a heart to serve our community. We’re once again happy to help where we can,” said Jarrod Casler, President of the San Angelo Jeep Club and San Angelo COAD Committee member.
Additional resources include shelter for homeless neighbors, water, and warm clothes. Water and warm clothes can also be requested by calling United Way of the Concho Valley. Homeless neighbors will be served through the Out of the Cold program operated by Salvation Army and other shelter needs be leveraged if there is a need.
