SAN ANGELO – Texas Land Commissioner George P. Bush and Senator Dawn Buckingham were the keynote speakers at the Concho Valley Republican Women Luncheon held Thursday at the River View Restaurant in San Angelo.
Bush is running for Texas Attorney General and Buckingham is running to replace Bush as Land Commissioner.
Bush is the son of former Florida Governor Jeb Bush and the nephew of former President George W. Bush. George P. is married to his wife Amanda who is from San Angelo.
Bush is the only statewide elected official who is also a veteran. According to his campaign, Bush oversees investments for public education and works to protect Texas private and public lands.
He is running for Attorney General against embattled incumbent Ken Paxton.
Dr. Buckingham was elected to the Texas Senate in 2016 and helped pass one of the most conservative legislative agendas in history. Buckingham has picked up several endorsements including that of former President Donald Trump.
Trump has also endorsed George P. Bush.
They are candidates in the Republican Primary March 1, 2022.
They are at the top of the ballot which includes local races like the one for Tom Green County Commissioner Pct. 4.
San Angelo LIVE! and the Concho Valley Republican Women are hosting a candidate forum for the six GOP candidates for Pct. 4 Commissioner Thursday evening at 6 p.m. in the Sugg Room at the Stephens Central Library Downtown.
The forum will be live streamed on San Angelo LIVE! and is open to the public. Seating is limited.
