SAN ANGELO – Another round of bone-chilling cold is headed for the Concho Valley early Thursday morning and will stay through the weekend. There is also a slight chance of some light snow.
According to meteorologists with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, a strong arctic cold front has moved through the region Wednesday afternoon and will dropp the temperature to the lower 20s Wednesday night. Wind chill values will be in the teens.
Temperatures this cold can burst unprotected pipes damage crops and kill outdoor pets and livestock that are without proper shelter and water.
Wednesday night an upper level disturbance will cross the region bringing with it a slight chance of light snow especially in the southern Concho Valley south of a Sterling City to San Angelo to Brady line.
On Thursday, the day will start with pipe-bursting cold temps around 20 degrees with wind chills in the upper teens. The cold weather will persist for the remainder of the week with seasonal temperatures returning to the region Monday.
