WATCH: What Do Axis Deer Do During High Winds?

SAN ANGELO – While the dangerous high winds knock down tree limbs and campaign signs in town, animals like axis deer find places to shelter out of the wind out in the wilderness.

Several white tail and axis deer found shelter in the trees and brush thickets while the wind blew at the San Angelo State Park Saturday morning.

An axis buck with his antlers in velvet found a place out of the wind in a thicket of trees near the North Concho River Saturday in the video below:

The axis buck above was hard to spot in the trees and he was alone this morning.  There were two herds of whitetail deer, an axis herd and a flock of turkeys up river from this axis Saturday morning.

There is a Red Flag Warning for the Concho Valley Saturday because of the high winds, low humidities and dry fuel.
