Abilene Donut Shop Owner Dies of Covid-19 on Christmas Day

ABILENE, TX –– The Abilene community is reeling from the loss of a beloved business owner due to Covid-19 on Christmas Day

For more than 20 years, George Kim ran AM Donuts and Croissants, connecting with customers over Marvel and DC comic book characters, Cambodian culture, and donuts.

Earlier this month, Kim contracted Covid-19 and spent weeks fighting for his life in the hospital.

Kim passed away on Christmas Day, leaving behind his wife Sokol and kids.

“To me, I think some people don't believe that COVID can kill people, you know the virus,” said Mrs. Kim. “But me I always pay attention you know, to me, for myself and also for the families. When we go out I can wear masks all the time, you know, protect yourself.”

More than $13,000 in donations have been raised to help the Kim family with expenses during this difficult time.
