Voters Will See Four Candidates On The Ballot During Special Election for SMD 5

 

SAN ANGELO, TX –– Just weeks after former City Councilmember Lane Carter stepped down, four candidates have filed to represent Single Member District Five. The deadline to file was Monday, December 20th.

The special election, which will take place on January 29th, will allow voters to choose from the following candidates:

  • John Austin Stokes, the Executive Director at Concho Valley Council of Governments.
  • Lynette Lucas, former candidate for District 72 State Representative
  • Bryan Neil Angle, a local ophthalmologist
  • Karen Hesse Smith, current legislative Chair for Concho Valley Republican Women

The winner of the special election will represent SMD 5 until May 2023.

The ballot order will be determined on Monday, December 27th.
