SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo Man was indicted last month for allegedly assaulting his own mother.
According to court documents, on Nov. 4, Curtis Moore, 45, was indicted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
The original arrest occurred on Sep. 3. On that day, officers with the San Angelo Police Department were dispatched to the 1200 block of Howard for the report of a subject with a weapon.
When the police arrived they found two people who claimed they had been assaulted by Moore. The first victim stated that the she and Moore's mother came to the home to retrieve the mom's belongings.
When they arrived, the victim claims that Moore was armed with an semi-automatic rifle. Once inside Moore took the first victim's cellphone from her. She took it back from him and he responded by pointing the gun at her and telling her to leave. On the way out Moore hit the victim with the door.
Moore then screwed the door shut with his mother inside. This is when officers were called to the scene.
While inside, Moore is accused of slapping his mother twice and pointing the gun his mother's stomach while making threats.
When police spoke to Moore, he claimed that all he was doing was trying to protect his family. He was then taken to the Tom Green County Detention Facility. He was released 15 days after the incident after posting a $100,000 surety bond.
Moore has a post indictment reporting hearing scheduled for Jan. 19. If convicted, Moore could face 2-20 years in prison.
