Monday is the Deadline to Enter the City Council Special Election Race

 

SAN ANGELO – San Angelo residents have until 5 p.m. Monday to file for a place on the special election ballot to fill the city council seat vacated recently by Lane Carter.  

Carter announced his bid for Tom Green County Judge and automatically resigned from the city council when he entered the March Primary.  

The San Angelo City Council voted to hold a special election Jan. 29, 2022 to fill the vacant Single Member District 5 seat.  Four residents have filed for a place on the non-partisan ballot so far: 

John Austin Stokes, Lynette Lucas, Dr. Bryan Angle and Karen Hesse Smith.  

The deadline to file for a place on the ballot is 5 p.m. today.  Early voting runs from Jan. 12 to Jan. 25, 2022.  For more information, check out the elections page on the City of San Angelo website.
