Couple Flees after Near Head-On Collision with Cop; Police Set up Perimeter

A tight perimeter in east San Angelo was set up on Saturday evening around Tres Rios, where police were looking for two suspects, a male and a female.

According to Sgt. John Rodriguez, the an officer was driving down Tres Rios in the 1100-1300 block this evening when a pickup turned onto the street and nearly hit the officer's vehicle as it drove by. The officer then turned around and initiated a traffic stop, and the driver of the pickup pulled up at a residence where they neither live nor know the occupants, and proceeded to run through the yard, jumping fences.

"I guess they changed directions a couple of times hopping through fences," Sgt. Rodriguez said. "We set up a perimeter, got the dogs out. The dogs tracked them for a little while but then lost them in some thicket north of Tres Rios, sort of behind Todd Lane, in that area."

Sgt. Rodriguez described the driver as a Hispanic male wearing shorts and a gray T-shirt. The owner of the truck was not involved, nor was the truck stolen.

The female passenger was a redhead, he said, and an ID matching her description was found in the vehicle. Police are still working to definitively confirm the woman's identity, but the woman on the ID card does currently have warrants out for her arrest.

Neither suspect has been apprehended so far, however police are working to find them both.
