SAN ANGELO – An unusual heat wave is forging across the Concho Valley and the Big Country Thursday and could result in all time high temperature records being shattered.
According to the National Weather Service Office in San Angelo, a ridge of high pressure parked over West Central Texas is allowing unseasonably high temperatures across the region Thursday. Record high temps are expected in San Angelo and Abilene.
Temperatures will be well above normal with breezy Southwest winds and dry conditions creating wildfire concerns in the Big Country. A Fire Danger Statement was issued for the western counties of the Big Country.
The record high temperature for San Angelo on this date is 83 degrees with a high temperature expected in the mid 80s.
