City Calls Special Election for January to Fill Vacant Seat

 

SAN ANGELO – The San Angelo City Council Tuesday called for a special election to replace former councilman Lane Carter in Single Member District 5.  The special election will be held on January 29, 2021 and the window for candidates to file for a place on the ballot runs from Dec. 7, 2021 to Monday, Dec. 20, 2021.  

San Angelo City Council District 5 candidate packets for the January 29 special election are available online and at City Hall. The recently vacated Single Member District 5 position will be filled with an elected official serving an unexpired term through May 2023.

The filing period for candidates begins today, December 7 and will continue through December 20.

Early voting will take place on weekdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., January 12-25, at the Edd B. Keyes Building located at 113 W. Beauregard Avenue. Early voting will be closed on January 17 in observance of Martin Luther King Day.

On Election Day, January 29, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the following locations.

- Angelo Bible Church, 3506 Sherwood Way

- MHMR Services of the Concho Valley Administration Building, 1501 W. Beauregard Ave.

- St. Mark Presbyterian Church, 2506 Johnson Avenue
