SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Angelo man convicted of sexual assault of a child will be spending his Thanksgiving in a Texas prison cell.
As previously reported, on Jun. 7, 2019, Eric Pedroza, 48, was found guilty of indecency with a child by sexual contact by Judge Carmen Dusek. For more see: Victim Takes the Stand as Defendant Sentenced to Prison for Lewd Acts with a Child
Pedroza was convicted of sexually abusing a teenager by touching her. He was sentenced by Judge Dusek to 8 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Since that day, Pedroza has been in the Tom Green County Detention Facility awaiting to hear from the Texas Court of Appeals. After a year of waiting, the letter from the appeal court came in and the results did not go in favor for Pedroza.
"This is an appeal from the judgment of conviction entered by the trial court. Having reviewed the record and the parties’ arguments, the Court holds that there was no reversible error in the trial court’s judgment of conviction," stated the letter. "Therefore, the Court affirms the trial court’s judgment of conviction. Because appellant is indigent and unable to pay costs, no adjudication of costs is made."
On Nov. 24, just one day before Thanksgiving, Pedroza was released from the TGCDF and into TDCJ custody. He will now spend the remainder of his sentence in prison.
