Tom Green County Grand Jury Indicts Homicidal Suspect for Intentional Crash with Delivery Truck

SAN ANGELO, TX – A San Antonio man has been indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for aggravated assault after he drove his vehicle into a UPS truck, told law enforcement he had a bomb, and tried to kill himself to save humanity.

On July 29, 2021, around 10:00 a.m., the Tom Green County dispatch received an emergency call saying a black SUV type vehicle was driving on the wrong side of the road on North US Highway 67.

Near the small town of Harriet in northern Tom Green County, the SUV, traveling southbound in the northbound lanes, collided head-on with a UPS delivery truck that was heading north towards Miles.

The collision caused the UPS truck to roll multiple times causing injuries to the delivery driver’s hands and chest. The UPS employee was transported to Shannon Emergency Room by ambulance.

A sheriff’s deputy arrived and found the suspected party, Richard Taylor Hill Jr., in the area. Hill Jr. told law enforcement he had a bomb inside his vehicle, and he was trying to make it detonate to kill himself. Hill Jr. was also transported to Shannon Emergency Room for treatment.

After reading his Miranda rights, the investigator interviewed Hill Jr. who stated he intentionally steered his vehicle into the UPS truck, as he was looking for a large vehicle or 18-wheeler, to end his life to save humanity. Hill also stated he is a “precision driver”.

Richard Taylor Hill Jr. was arrested and booked into the Tom Green County Detention Center on July 29, 2021, has a $35,000.00 bond, and cannot have contact with the UPS driver.

Aggravated assault is a second-degree felony in Texas but in Hill’s case it has been enhanced to a first-degree felony.
