SAN ANGELO, TX — The San Angelo Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting Tuesday night celebrating the grand opening of the Tom Green County Republican Party headquarters.
The headquarters was moved to the intersection of Johnson Ave. and University Avenue earlier this fall. The ribbon-cutting was held on Nov. 16 by the Chamber of Commerce to celebrate the successful move.
There were a number of local politicians including state representative Drew Darby, mayor of San Angelo Brenda Gunter, and a number of other Republicans. Local personalities included San Angelo Chamber of Commerce president Walter Koenig, former San Angelo LIVE! publisher Joe Hyde, and others.
Rep. Darby was one of the people to congratulate the GOP of Tom Green County on the monumental occasion.
“ The Republican Party is just a name,” said Darby. “You’re what makes the Republican Party so successful, so supportive, and so important not only to the Concho Valley, not only to the state of Texas, but to America.”
The former Tom Green county republican headquarters was located in attorney Jeff Betty’s office at the intersection of Concho and Abe.
Candidates are currently filing for the GOP Primary election March 1, 2022. The headquarters will be used as a resource for candidates and a meeting place for strategic planning and meetings for campaigns.
