SAN ANGELO, TX – Slowly but surely street projects are progressing across San Angelo this month.
The Downtown Chadbourne Street is nearly complete. The intersection at Twohig and Chadbourne will be finished in the coming weeks. Street lights will stay flashing until Twohig opens. Striping operations will begin after intersection is finished. The street lighting will be installed in mid-November. Then a pedestrian ramp will be built beginning late November to early December.
Although the Mill and overlay sections are complete the work continues on Southwest Blvd. A change in the plan has slowed the construction by another 8-10 months. Engineers have decided to concrete pavement will now be added instead of asphalt because it requires less maintenance and has a longer lifespan. The decision was made because of the volume of stormwater and the high traffic in the area.
On of the first things that tourists visiting San Angelo experience is Hanger Rd. at the airport. The airport entrance road project will include reconstruction in front of the terminal, mill and overlay from Reary rd. to Hangar Rd., and reconstruction at Abell and Hanger rd. Currently the only remaining part of the project to complete ins the reconstruction at Abell. This project is only expected to last 120 days.
Other projects include the Bell street project (ETA 1st quarter of 2022), Oakes St., N. Chadbourne st. loop 306 to 43rd st.
Future projects include College Hills Loop 306 to Ave. N, Sunset Dr., Jackson St. Knickerbocker to RR tracks, Rio Concho Dr., and more.
