Man Jailed for Chasing Ex with Baseball Bat

A man who is alleged to have broken into his 24-year-old ex-girlfriend's house and chased her around with a baseball bat was booked into the county jail on Thursday, charged with first-degree felony burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony.

Anthony Gomez Munoz, 31, was jailed at 6:14 p.m. by the SAPD after the victim managed to escape and call the police. The incident occurred at her house Thursday evening, located in the 2400 block of Ave. N. Police say she was not injured in the break-in and attempted assault. 

No bond has been set for Munoz. A first-degree felony is punishable by five to 99 years in prison and a fine not to exceed $10k.

Thirty-two others were booked into the jail on Thursday, including 16 more accused of committing offenses within the last 24 hours that landed them behind bars. Theft and marijuana were the most commonly recurring charges, accounting for three bookings apiece, followed by two possession charges, two jailed for public intoxication, one assault, one DWI and one individual charged with posession of a dangerous drug.

Sixteen others were picked up on warrants, two of which included men jailed for manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance. Other warrant arrests were made on persons wanted for criminal trespass, bail jumping, theft and other miscellaneous offenses.

Thirty-eight individuals were released on Thursday.
