Wind Advisory Issued for the Concho Valley Ahead of a Powerful Cold Front

SAN ANGELO – The National Weather Service office in San Angelo has issued a Wind Advisory for West Central Texas effective until 5 p.m. Wednesday.

According to the NWS, a strong Pacific Cold Front will blow through West Texas including the Concho Valley Tuesday night bringing high winds, lightning, heavy rain and hail.

North to Northwest winds of 30 to 39 mph with much higher gusts are expected across the area. Winds that strong can blow around unsecured objects, knock down tree limbs and cause power outages.

A Wind Advisory means high gusty winds of 30 to 39 mph are occurring and can also make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles.

Forecasters expect a line of thunderstorms to develop west of the Concho Valley and rumble through the area Tuesday night bringing heavy rain, high winds and dangerous lightning.  Localized flooding will be possible across the region with the heavy thunderstorms.

This a dynamic and changing weather situation.
