ROBY, TX –– Earlier this week, the Fischer County Commissioners Court voted to approve a curfew for juveniles. According to officials, this was done in the best interest of the public health, safety, and general welfare.
The curfew prohibits anyone under the age of 18 to be out on the streets between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.
According to the curfew, it will be unlawful for parents to allow their children to be out during curfew hours.
The exceptions to the rule are if the juveniles are
- accompanied by a parent, guardian, or adult
- are married and over the age of 16
- in the military
- in an emergency,
- when exercising the first amendment,
- juvenile is employed and has a commute during the curfew hours
Juveniles who are found violating the order could be fined up to $500 and face a Class C misdemeanor.
