NWS: Wind Advisory for the Concho Valley But Rain May Stay East

SAN ANGELO – Forecasters with the National Weather Service office in San Angelo have issued a Wind Advisory for the entire Concho Valley and Big Country until 1 a.m. Wednesday.  

There is a good chance of heavy rains and flash flooding in the eastern counties while most of the Concho Valley will remain dry initially.

Gusty winds of 25 mph to 30 mph will gust over 40 mph at times creating hazardous driving conditions and blowing around loose objects.  

A Wind Advisory means winds of 30 mph to 39 mph with higher gusts are occurring.  Winds this strong can knock down tree limbs and make driving hazardous.  

Showers and thunderstorms associated with the remnants of Hurricane Pamela are expected tonight across the area.  Localized heavy rainfall and flash flooding is forecast along and east of a line from Sonora to Eden to Coleman Wednesday night into Thursday morning.  

A second line of showers and thunderstorms is expected to form over the Concho Valley around 3 a.m. Wednesday morning and move east across the area.  The main threat will be heavy rain and flooding. 

There is a flash flood watch in effect for the eastern counties in the Concho Valley along with the Heartland and the northwest Hill Country.
