SAN ANGELO – Tom Green County Commissioners Tuesday will consider purchasing several new fleet vehicles for a number of departments during their regular meeting.
According to the regular agenda from the County Judge's office, the court will consider purchasing six Chevrolet Tahoes from Silsbee Fleet/Lake Country Chevrolet for the Sheriff's Office Patrol Division. The agenda includes purchasing one Tahoe for the jail and another one for the Mental Health Deputy Unit.
The vehicles will be purchased through a statewide cooperative purchasing contract which guarantees counties the lowest competitive bid and streamlines the mandatory bidding process.
Funding for the new fleet vehicles is included in the current budget.
The agenda also includes purchasing two Ford F-150 pickups using the same cooperative contract.
The court will also consider a number of other large purchases including two John Deere tractors from South Plains Implement Company.
The regular agenda also includes considering the lease and operation of City Park in Christoval to the Playland Communities Foundation. The Foundation was created by Christoval residents to make improvements to the small local park located on Main St. The Playland Communities Foundation is raising private funds for park improvement which include a pavilion, landscaping, lighting and other improvements. The lease agreement is necessary because the county owns and maintains the park.
Tom Green County Commissioners Court meets in regular session Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. in the Commissioner's Court Meeting room on the second floor of the Keyes Building downtown. The court proceeding is open to the public.
