SAN ANGELO – The first strong thunderstorm system of the fall could blow through the Concho Valley Tuesday afternoon and overnight bringing much needed rain and very unnecessary lightning and high winds.
According to information from the National Weather Service office in San Angelo, some strong to severe thunderstorms could develop over the area this afternoon from around 4 p.m. to 7 p.m then again tonight from roughly 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The main severe weather threats will be heavy rains causing localized flooding, strong winds, large hail and dangerous lightning.
Torrential rain from the thunderstorms could cause flooding of roadways and low lying areas across the region.
More heavy thunderstorms are expected across West Central Texas again Thursday through Saturday. The main weather threats later this week include heavy rainfall causing flooding and more of that dangerous lightning.
There is a 50% chance of rain Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday night that increases to 70% by Thursday afternoon.
