SAN ANGELO – Volunteers with the 2nd-ish annual First Responders BBQ Cook Off presented checks from the proceeds of the event to Concho County Sheriff Chad Miller Thursday during a ceremony at the Michael D. Brown Justice Center in San Angelo.
The checks will go to the families of two officers killed in the line of duty in Eden earlier this year.
The Cook Off competition raised $5,000 for the families.

The inaugural First Responders BBQ Cook-off was held in 2019 and then in 2020 the event was canceled because of the pandemic so the Cook-off in August was the second competition in three years.
The competition was held at the end of Spillway Rd. along the Twin Buttes Dam on the banks of Lake Nasworthy.
