San Angelo awoke to snow covered lawns and icy roadways this morning. As usual this spurred the cancellation of schools, the closure of the airport and many other businesses all over town due to hazardous road conditions.
Chris Daniels of the National Weather Service in San Angelo forecasts freezing overnight temperatures and much of the same for tomorrow morning.
"Tomorrow mornings' weather conditions will be similar to today's," Daniels said. "Freezing drizzle is expected, with an afternoon high of 45 degrees. For Sunday we are looking at a much nicer day with a high reaching the 60s."
The wintry weather west Texas is experiencing stems from a Northern Candian Arctic front that blew in earlier this week.
"We were out pretreating roads yesterday," said Karen Threlkeld of TxDOT. " Of course this morning they were out full force, treating all the major arteries running through town. We have had alot of slipping and sliding around on the loop, and other roads. We are doing the best we can to get after it, we are just monitoring the weather like everyone else."

The city of San Angelo and Tom Green County have issued warnings about Friday's road conditions, advising all motorists to remain off of all of the streets unless absolutely necessary, as the roads are extremely haszardous.
